Resolution authorizing and requesting the board of Selectman to petition the town’s legislative delegation to study the inequitable Norfolk County assessment of Brookline and other municipalities and to enact legislation to remedy such inequities.

Article 4 A proposal to strengthen the role of the Town Administrator in the hiring of department heads
The recorded vote was on a motion which sought to expand the role of the Town Administrator in the hiring of department heads.
A “yes” vote was for favorable action on the motion.
Article 11 A proposal to require recorded votes within the Advisory Committee
The recorded vote was on a motion to require recorded votes within the Advisory Committee.
A “yes” vote was for favorable action on the motion.

Article 10 Referral to Committee on Town Organization and Structure
The main motion under Article 10 sought to make official the titles Police Commissioner and Fire Commissioner for members of the Board of Selectmen. The recorded vote was on a motion to refer the main motion to the Committee on Town Organization and Structure.
A “yes” vote was for referral to the committee.
The effect of the successful motion to refer the main motion to a committee was to delay a vote on the main motion to a future Town Meeting.
Article 14 Warner Substitute Motion
The main motion under Article 14 sought temporary rezoning of a set of properties south of Route 9 to protect residential properties on White Place and Emerson Gardens. The Warner substitute motion called for a change of zoning less restrictive of commercial development than the main motion.
A “yes” vote was to substitute the Warner amendment for the main motion.
The failure of the Warner substitute motion led to favorable action on the main motion.
Town Meeting Fall 2009
Article 5: Carlton Street Footbridge. The motion under article 5 proposed that the Town commit as much as $1,400,000 for restoration of the footbridge.
A “Yes” vote favored a financial commitment to restore the footbridge.
Town Meeting Spring 2009
A motion to petition the Legislature to allow the Town to withdraw all of its paid positions with the exception of police and fire from the Civil Service system.
A “yes” vote favored withdrawal from the Civil Service system.
A “no” vote favored continued participation in the Civil Service system.Town Meeting Fall 2008
A motion to postpone the purchase of an RFID circulation system for the Brookline Public Library.
A “yes” vote called for postponement of the project.
A “no” vote called for moving forward with the project.
